Troop 51 Praise

Uncategorizedadmin, March 31, 2011 @ 9:13 am

From an email email conversation after the Scout Spaghetti Dinner:

HUGE HUGE Thank you to all of you!!!
Last night was an amazing experience. The amount of Parent help and participation was over whelming. From 7 AM to 11 PM You were there helping in ways I didn’t even see. Some of you were so busy I didn’t get a chance to tell you thank you personally.
What a great troop we have. The boys worked so hard it was very impressive.
I hope each one of you are as proud of your son as I am.
Its days like yesterday that put Scouting and this troop into focus for me.
Spaghetti dinner is more then a fund raiser. It was a way for the boys to show off. So many people stopped me and told me how great the service was and how amazed that these young men could work so hard. And work so well together.
Every year it gets bigger and bigger and every year I think how ever will we do this.
Thank you all so much for everything you do. Without you we could not do any of this.

I just want to ditto what Justin has said. As I was running around Saturday I checked with many people to see how they were doing and each one said the boys were AMAZING!!! So polite and had such great manners. They were amazed at how great the food was. I even over heard one family say “Wow, this is so much better than what that other troop did, This is excellent!” and truly it was. I appreciate everyone that helped with this tremendous undertaking. And Thank you for all the hours, patience, and hard work that you all put in!!! We really have the BEST TROOP, best parents and leaders in the BSA!
Thanks again!

One Great Hour of Sharing

Uncategorizedadmin, March 29, 2011 @ 9:47 am

Deciding to share is tough sometimes, especially when we feel we barely have enough to get by ourselves. But compared to people whose lives have been ravaged by disaster, or who live on less than $1 a day, we have a great abundance.

This week we are invited to help people in need around the world and in communities impacted by disasters in the United States through the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) offering. As the church, we are called to help one another, even through the sharing of our own resources.

Here is how OGHS impacts lives:

On Sunday April 3rd please mark your special donation “OGHS” or donate online.

Ash Wednesday

Uncategorizedadmin, March 9, 2011 @ 10:28 am

“Entering the Lenten season is always a bit of a perplexing situation. We go into Lent knowing it as a time of increased devotion, fasting and generosity – but also understanding these practices of discipleship are traits we want to hold dear in our walk of faith at all times”, writes the Rev. Geoffrey A. Black, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ.

Our Episcopal friends will be holding a Liturgy of Ash Wednesday at 12 noon and 7 pm today. This day marks the first day of Lent. We begin by acknowledging our humanity, reminding ourselves that we are mortal and imperfect but for the grace of God. We place ashes on our foreheads in humility acknowledging our need for God’s grace and mercy. We ask Divine forgiveness for our failure to love and we receive Divine Food for the 40-day journey of Lent in Holy Eucharist. Please, join our friends at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 50 West 200 North, Provo, UTand RSVP on facebook.
