Silver Lake Hike
Come and join us for Silver Lake Hike on September 10th. The hike will be approximately 2.3 miles one way. Come and enjoy the beauty of nature. If you would like to carpool please be at the church at 8am. If you choose not to carpool we will meet at the trailhead at 9am. Take exit 268 off of I-15 and turn right and go up the canyon to the park station there you will pay your fee of $6.00 a car. Then proceed approximately 7 miles to Silver Lake Reservoir where parking is available. The hikers will proceed from there. After the hike we will enjoy a lunch of hot dogs and we ask that you please bring a side dish to share.

Neighborhood Potluck
The Provo Lakeside 7th ward has not only put in hundreds of service hours to renovate our church, they also rescheduled their September neighborhood potluck so we can join them! It will be on September 9th at 6:00. The address is 2225 West 620 North, Provo, UT 84601. If you would like to carpool please be at our church at 5:30pm. Bring your favorite tailgate food to share! Be sure to bring your own plates and utensils.Wear your team gear and come ready to play games!

Festival Latinoamericano
La diversidad viene a la ciudad y nosotros/as estamos aquí para abrazarla. Dios habla todavía en Utah Valley,
September 2nd is the downtown alliance gallery stroll. In past years the church has tried to compete with the different festivals but no more. We are joining the party. We will be at the Latin American Festival at the City County Building. The address is 51 South University Avenue. If you would like to join in the fun please meet at the church at 6pm. There will be bilingual flyers passed out telling everyone about our church.

Congregational Meeting
Our church is constantly broadening its welcome. Over the past few months the church council has made great progress widening our hospitality. The church council feels it is important to have the entire church be up to speed about all these exciting developments. Members will be asked to discuss and approve the following resolutions on Sunday, September 18th, 2011:
- A pronouncement on a United Church of Christ Ministry and Witness with Micronesians
(adopted by the church council on November 14th 2010)
- Open and Affirming Statement
(requested by the congregational meeting on January 16th 2011)
- Statement “Kirche auf Deutsch”
(adopted by the church council on July 24th 2011)

Open and Affirming
The following statement has been requested by the congregational meeting on January 16th 2011 and was developed by many groups of our congregation over several months:
We welcome all who seek spiritual growth into our reconciling community. This includes persons of every age, gender, race, national origin, faith background, marital status, family structure, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, mental and physical ability, economic and social status, and educational background. We invite all persons no matter who they are or where they are on life’s journey to participate in the life, leadership, employment, ministry and mission of this family of God’s people and to share in worship and sacraments and to enlist in the work of this local church as it serves this community and the world.
