The Lord is Risen!

Uncategorizedadmin, March 30, 2010 @ 9:06 am

Thursday, April 1st, is Maundy Thursday. The service will be held at 6 pm followed by a potluck supper. The Rev. Daniel Haas will preach on “Cleanse me, Lord!” featuring a foot-washing rite and Holy Communion. This represents Jesus sitting down with his friends for the biggest holiday of the Jewish year to remember the people’s way through the Egyptian Desert. It starts out as a joyous occasion until Jesus announces that one of his friends is going to betray him. Drama unfolds as in everybody’s life.

Friday, April 2nd, is Good Friday. The service will be held at 6 pm. The Rev. Daniel Haas will preach on “Y?” This is also Gallery Stroll Night, please refer to the right column. There is no point in celebrating Easter with out Good Friday. There is no resurrection without death. Yes, God himself experienced what death is. Our God is vulnerable and thus one of us.

Sunday, April 4th, at 7 a.m. there will be the 2010 Community Easter Sunrise Service in the Provo Towne Centre Mall Rotunda. Enjoy the music of the Utah Valley Handbell Choir, James Oneil Miner and One Voice Children’s Choir. When the rising sun is finally victorious over the dark night, when death is finally overcome, faithful people gather to listen, pray and sing the glory of Christ.

Sunday, April 4th, is Easter Sunday, 10.30 a.m.
The sad, empty, dark sanctuary, abandoned on Friday night comes back to joy, life and light. Christ is risen, he is risen indeed! Death does not have the final say. God is in favor of life and he is going to prevail in the end.
The Rev. Daniel Haas will preach on “Unbelievable!” at Provo Community United Church of Christ, 175 N. University Ave.. Easter Breakfast starts at 9 a.m. Egg Hunt and Coffee Hour follow Service. Nursery and Childrens’ Sunday School available. Choir Practice is Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. No matter where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome!

Come and enjoy childrens’ artwork! This gives us an opportunity to open our church to the community and to give local artists a chance to showcase their talents. You can help us to that by either helping us with refreshments or help us connect to the arts community even more. For comments and questions please contact Jessica Wilson.
