Outreach
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36
It is our mission to feed the hungry and cloth the naked. Every second Tuesday of the month from 10 a. m. to 12 noon we prepare sack lunches for The Food and Care Coalition. During fall and winter we provide crocheted hats for the homeless. Our facilities are being used for gatherings of Alcoholics Anonymous helping them to get out of the prison of addiction.
“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” Gen 1:31
The gallery stroll is held the first Friday of every month from 6:00-9:00 p.m. We decided to become involved in this event to highlight people’s creativity in our community as well as in our congregations. We also wanted to open our beautiful church and sanctuary to the community. This has been a very successful event. Light refreshments are served and everyone is welcome to come and join in the fun.
“In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12
Christmas is one of the highlights in the church calendar. We remember those suffering from HIV/AIDS by providing “Aids stockings” as Christmas presents and sweeten Advent with our Cookie Walk in December.
“for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Isaiah 56:7
Our facilities are being used for gatherings of Christian churches of Spanish language and diverse theological traditions. We take pride in the ecumenical unity in diversity that is present in our churches.
