Provo Community Church

All through the season of Lent, our congregation has been competing with our scout troop to collect more food for our local food bank than “the other team”. The winning party receives a dinner provided by the “losers”. The motto for our Easter food drive is “Lent a Helping Hand” and that will also be the theme for our worship service on April 15th. The Sunday after Easter is when final counts are compared and those in need of support from the food bank are the winners. The Rev. Mirjam Haas-Melchior will be preaching that Sunday.

A couple of services we want to highlight:

The evening service on Good Friday, April 6th, will start at 6:30 pm at Provo Community United Church of Christ. This is also Art Stroll Night where we will be featuring a great variety of Easter Symbols from 6-9 pm. That really makes it worship in the downtown community.

The Worship Service on Easter Sunday, April 8th will start at 10:30 am at Provo Community United Church of Christ. This service will be trilingual with English, German and Pohnpeian parts. Christ is risen for all the peoples!

On Saturday, March 24th 2012, from 4.30 to 8.30 let the Boy Scouts of Troop 51 treat you to a scrumptious 4 course meal. Starting off with a gourmet salad with dressing of your choice, you will be served a bread course. After that, the meal will progress to a delicious country pasta, with 2 types of sauce for you to choose from. When you are finished, a dessert course will be brought out to finish this lovely meal. During the entire extravaganza, drinks of your choice will be served. The entire affair is all you can eat!

On Friday March 16, 2012, from 5:30pm-8pm, the Food & Care Coalition will be hosting the 6th annual Bowls for Humanity fund raiser at their new facility located at 299 E. 900 S. in Provo. The event showcases local art while spotlighting the social service efforts of the Food & Care Coalition. Tours of our new facility including progress made on our residential units will be available to the public.
Handmade soup bowls from both amateur and professional potters will be available for purchase and can be filled with a selection of soups from both Marvellous Catering and Chef Ken. Art, showcasing local talent, will also be on display. Proceeds from the event will go toward operational expenses needed to open the transitional housing units. Pottery is $10 and up and includes soup and roll.

Rev. Curtis Tutterow, Union Congregational UCC, Green River, WY passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He bravely battled cancer for the last eight months. Please pray for his family and congregaton during this time of sorrow, and the months to come. In our newly formed Intermountain Association Curtis served as a vice moderator and graciously hosted our first meeting at his Wyoming church.
