A statement from the artist:
“Love and Loss”
Grief I’ve learned is really, just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat and in that hollow in your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go- By: Jamie Anderson
I lost a parent at a young age. It is something that changes your world and how you perceive it. Grief is something that has been a very strong part of my life, and for many years I never understood why I was feeling the way I was. I wanted to look more into the grief process and as I did, I was inspired to make images of the headstones and memorabilia of my family. I have taken images of my grandparents, great grandparents and some aunts and uncles. My father’s image is a bit different, He doesn’t currently have a headstone, so I used some objects of his that remind me of him.
The images were created with the alternative photo process, palladium. Each image is coated watercolor paper with this precious metal. Then using an enlarged negative, it is exposed under a UV light.
